Putting her second best foot forward....

Kim V from upstate NY arrived at my home yesterday with 81 (!) quilts for Wrap-A-Smile.  Talk about special delivery!  It was great to finally meet her in person as she has been a huge supporter of WAS for the last 15 years.

not much room for vacation luggage....

As Kim and I both want to contain our shipping costs, it was a great opportunity for me to demonstrate our vacuum packing process for Rotaplast quilts.  Rotaplast prefers that we pack our quilts in 20 cube UPS boxes, ready for them to ship to mission sites with their medical supplies. With the help of both of our husbands we managed to shrink down 41 quilts into one box.  (Seeing is believing!)

41 quilts ready for action....

By now you must have noticed the boot in the picture.  Earlier in the summer Kim had foot surgery and was totally non weight-bearing for 2 months. She will be wearing this boot for the next 2 months.  So how does one sew you ask??..."With the boot elevated on a padded stool and the left foot learning new tricks."  (You can't keep a good quilter down for long!)
Kim planned ahead, having a stack of "sandwiches" ready for quilting and binding.  And the result has filled up my sofa! :)

joyous stacks of color!

Kim - you are amazing and I was happy to return some hugs on behalf of all the people you have comforted over the years through your quilty generosity.  Goodness abounds!
